Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has warned that India’s growing semiconductor and electronics manufacturing sector could face physical, cyber and “narrative” sabotage.

Referring to the 2021 Foxconn incident near Chennai, Vaishnaw said 159 workers were hospitalised after a food-poisoning episode, triggering protests and disruption at the facility. He also alleged that misinformation and negative narratives were used to undermine India’s emergence as a manufacturing hub.

Vaishnaw urged the industry to remain vigilant as India strengthens its position in global semiconductor manufacturing.
