🌌🇵🇰 Info: Pakistani Engineer from Gujrat Helped Build NASA’s James Webb Telescope
A remarkable moment of pride for Pakistan as Yasir Tufail, an engineer from Karianwala near Gujrat, emerges as one of the contributors behind NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, the most advanced space observatory ever created.
After moving to the U.S. in 2001 and pursuing aerospace engineering, Yasir joined NASA and became part of the mission’s Integration & Testing team. His work included environmental testing, instrument validation, complex mirror alignment, and post-launch commissioning - all crucial steps that helped activate the telescope now reshaping our understanding of the universe.
From hands-on testing of scientific modules to supporting optical alignment that turned 18 separate mirror images into one, his contributions played a key part in JWST’s success.
A powerful reminder that talent born in Pakistan can reach the stars, literally. 🇵🇰
