Pavel Durov is testing the Telegram wallet.

XRP sits at ~$85B market cap with ~$40M of DeFi TVL on XRPL.

That’s the point. TVL is a useful scoreboard for Ethereum and Solana because those chains are DeFi machines — AMMs, lending, LSTs, perps. Capital parked in protocols is a big part of the product.

TON is a different bet.

TON isn’t trying to be the place where funds sit idle for yield. It’s the settlement layer for Telegram: payments, Mini Apps, games, bots, transfers. Most of that activity never shows up as TVL. Money moves. It doesn’t have to lock.

Look at the actual shape of the chain:

⏺DeFi TVL: ~$50M

⏺Stablecoins on TON: ~$750M

⏺Millions of transactions a day, not millions of dollars sitting in pools

Same mismatch you see on XRP. Huge cap, tiny DeFi TVL — because the thesis is payments / settlement / distribution, not Uniswap.

So dunking on TON for low TVL is like dunking on Visa for not having a money market fund. Wrong metric for the product.

TVL still matters if you’re asking “how mature is TON DeFi vs ETH/SOL?” Answer: not close. ETH ~$49B TVL, Solana ~$5.8B. Nobody serious pretends otherwise.

It just isn’t the metric that decides whether TON works.

You can now change part of your seed phrase without changing the wallet address.

A seed phrase is two halves:

1. First 12 words — the address. These never change.
2. Last 12 words — the key that signs sends. These can be swapped.

New wallets start with just 12 words. After the first change, you get 24. Every next change replaces only the last 12. Same address. You can do this more than once, even before the wallet is used on-chain.

If someone saw only the last 12 words, change them and that leak stops working.

If someone saw the whole phrase, this is not a magic undo. They can still empty the wallet until the change goes through. If you’re not sure you can beat them to it, make a new wallet and move the funds.

Not in the public app yet. So far this lives only in Wallet Engine, the toolkit wallets are built on.

What Durov just filed with ICANN, Grok already ships.

He applied for the .gram zone so Telegram users could get yourname.gram and spin up an interactive site from one prompt. Solid idea — but ICANN does not move in “a few months.” If it gets approved at all, you’re looking at 2027.

Grok already covers the useful half of that loop: it writes the site and hosts it on *.grok.me.

Test case — a landing page I put together in about 30 minutes. I don’t code at all: no stack, no hosting setup, not a single line written by hand.

.gram + Cocoon would be interesting if Telegram actually lands both. Until then, the one-prompt site is already up.

Pavel Durov just announced:

Gram Wallet is ready and live for a select group of users.

It will roll out to 1B+ Telegram users over the next couple of weeks.

Validators approved the smart contract behind it — so future upgrades won’t require painful migrations.

One of the moves Telegram built to make non-custodial wallets actually usable. ✨

Spotted in Telegram’s official TDLib docs: the system already supports gifting Premium for any number of days (not just full months).

month_count can be 0, and there’s a separate day_count field.
Looks like shorter gift periods might drop in a future update.

Gram Wallet is already running an NFT skins engine.

On iPhone, the wallet can already display NFT cards — right now it’s still pulling My Wallet Cards via GetGems.

The interesting part: the team has started separating them. They’ve added their own card_gram and gramCardGradient specifically for IS_GRAM_WALLET.

The old HomeCardPromotion only shows when it’s not Gram Wallet; inside Gram it just returns an empty view.

So for now Gram Wallet still uses the original My Wallet Cards, but the code already shows the shift toward fully native Gram personalization.

Bottom line: NFT cards from My Wallet can already be used in Gram Wallet, and the transition to its own system is clearly underway.
