i’d like to recommend you “King Kong Theory”, a book by Virginie Despentes
i think it puts words to things people usually soften. it refuses to make women, sex, violence, work, beauty, or power comfortable topics. and it won’t be an easy read for everyone, which is exactly why it’s needed
it’s the kind of book people call “angry” because they’re more uncomfortable with women’s anger than with the things that caused it. so YES, it’s 100% worth your time
i genuinely think Despentes is one of the strongest voices in contemporary feminism

French writer Virginie Despentes is one of modern feminism's most vigorous voices. Despentes, who left home and gave up her studies at 17 to become a prostitute and a punk, is the author of the novel Baise-moi (Rape Me), the Vernon Subutex trilogy and the autobiographical essay King Kong Theory (Feminist Press, 2010).
