How to determine what sign the moon is in, for your Chrism process, by looking at the moon:
1) Know what sign the Sun is in or moving to. For example, right now Aug 15 the Sun is at the end of Leo. Moving to Virgo.
2) when the sun is at the End of a sign that means the moon is with it, and is black.
3) once the moon shows itself that is Day 1 of the new sign. (This will happen Aug 16th, or 17th of this month.
4) when that happens the moon is in VIRGO. Designating the new month.
5) imagine a circle from the point called Virgo and the moon moving on the circle until it goes back to the beginning called Virgo.
6) on that circle--every 30 degrees is a new sign. Use the sun as the marker for the beginning of your circle.
7) its easy to see 180 degrees because the moon will be across from the sun. In this case with virgo as the start position, the moon is in pisces.
8) 90 degrees will be an L shape from each other. With the Virgo as the start position 90 degrees would be sagittarius/Capricorn.
9) just start in the original position and work your way around. 30 degrees for each sign. And the moon takes 2-3 days to move to the next 30 degree position.
