U.S. soldiers and Gold Star families are pressing Army leadership for answers over the March 1 Iranian drone strike on Port Shuaiba in Kuwait that killed six American soldiers and wounded dozens, according to AP.
🔖Soldiers told AP that commanders had been repeatedly warned the port was vulnerable to low-flying drones and lacked adequate counter-drone defenses.
➡️ Intelligence officers urged commanders not to relocate troops there, while surveillance drones were spotted over the facility the night before the attack.
➡️ Despite those warnings, troops were moved out of nearby bunkers following an all-clear, and roughly 20 minutes later an Iranian drone struck their operations center.
➡️ Survivors also described inadequate preparations for a mass-casualty event and problems receiving medical care afterward, with some seriously wounded troops sent to barracks rather than admitted for inpatient treatment after reaching Germany.
➡️ The Army completed its investigation in June but has not publicly released the findings, saying families must first be briefed.
➡️ Relatives and wounded soldiers are demanding accountability over what they describe as failures in preparedness and decision-making.🔖
