DAU is undoubtedly openly political, but the question Venice's jury and audience need to ask themselves is what politics the movie itself embodies—not just its message. Is it about the horrors of the abuse of power, or the horrors of the wrong people gaining power to abuse? Is it about people suffering under totalitarianism, or just about one genius who matters?
