The injection contains 9 mg of benzyl alcohol, which acts as a preservative. Benzyl alcohol is used in various products like perfumes, flavors, antibacterials, cosmetics, ointments, ballpoint pen ink, stencil ink, and hair dye as a preservative. In the context of the vaccine for newborns, it serves as a solvent and preservative. However, it's essential to take precautions as it is highly toxic and can be harmful if swallowed, inhaled, or comes into contact with the skin or eyes.
