be careful with your own thoughts.
they can lie to you.
the first job is to understand reality as clearly as possible. reality doesn't care about what you believe, how badly you want something, or how fair you think things should be.
sometimes it's brutal.
but there is an interesting paradox in building anything great:
you need to see reality clearly, while remaining delusional enough to believe you can change it.
think carefully.
then execute brutally.
compete relentlessly, but don't build your life around competition.
competition is a signal that you are playing in someone else's game.
the goal is to build something so valuable and so difficult to replace that competition becomes irrelevant.
the same applies to almost everything else.
clear communication is one of the simplest advantages you can have, yet people constantly avoid saying things on time. problems that could have been solved with one honest conversation become much bigger because nobody wanted to have it.
stay open to ideas.
ideas from other people.
ideas that contradict you.
ideas that make you uncomfortable.
they might expose something you got wrong.
but being open doesn't mean believing everything.
you need a filter.
listen to everything.
believe selectively.
test against reality.
because reality is the final filter.
and it doesn't care about your opinion.
