🇵🇾 On Monday, Paraguayan authorities evacuated about 100 families from the San Rafael neighborhood in Ciudad del Este, Alto Paraná Department, due to flooding caused by the rising waters of the Paraná River following heavy rains. Aerial images show dozens of homes underwater.

⚠️ Defense Minister Óscar González warned that the heavy rain is expected to continue, according to forecasts. The head of the National Emergency Secretariat (SEN), Arsenio Zárate, noted that flooding in this low-lying neighborhood occurs cyclically and that families had initially refused to leave their homes despite the warnings.

🏠 Evacuees will be temporarily housed in the neighborhood chapel and at the sports center in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay’s second-largest city.
