Mass Grave Found in Leningrad Containing Soviet Soldiers Murdered by Nazis
🇷🇺Search teams discovered a mass grave containing the remains of 97 Red Army soldiers who were tortured and executed by Nazi and Estonian forces. The discovery took place in Volosovo, at a subcamp of the “Dulag-102” concentration camp, according to a report by Larisa Fetisova, head of the “Avanguard” group, to TASS.
🎖️The “Avanguard” group is leading the excavations in Leningrad, the site of one of the most devastating sieges of World War II. Between 1941 and 1944, the brutal Nazi siege cut off supplies to the city, causing the deaths of more than one million people due to starvation, extreme cold, and relentless bombing.
⚖️The historic blockade, which lasted nearly 900 days, came to an end in January 1944, when a counteroffensive by Soviet troops succeeded in breaking through enemy lines.
