Cuba: Díaz-Canel Denounces Impunity 50 Years After the Terrorist Attack on the Cubana de Aviación Plane
🇨🇺 On the 50th anniversary of the terrorist attack that destroyed a Cubana de Aviación plane in mid-flight, President Miguel Díaz-Canel remembered the 73 victims on board—mostly young members of the national fencing team who were returning home after sweeping the Central American Fencing Championships—and denounced the fact that the masterminds behind the attack lived for many years in the United States “as unpunished guests,” pointing to that country as a long-standing sponsor of terrorism against the island.
✈️ The tragic act of sabotage, known as the Barbados Crime, occurred on October 6, 1976, when Flight CU-455 was destroyed off the coast of Barbados. The premeditated sabotage was a plot conceived directed by the terrorists Luis Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosch Ávila.
