🚨France: Protests Continue Amid Education Crisis
🇫🇷Students and union leaders are taking to the streets across France this Tuesday, October 6, as part of a national strike. The demonstrations demand immediate solutions to teacher shortages, overcrowded schools, and deteriorating infrastructure, and denounce the failures of the government’s university admissions platform, “Parcoursup.”
💥The escalating tensions have led to alarming figures: 6,000 arrests and about 1,000 injuries, including a 15-year-old. Human rights organizations and judges are denouncing the disproportionate use of force by law enforcement against protesters.
🏛️Although the government promised to fill teaching vacancies and repair schools, the movement is not backing down. The student union La Force Lycéenne stated on social media:
“We will not give up, no matter the repression and no matter the government’s attempts to misinform the public.”
