🚨 Ecuador: El Niño Leaves Thousands Affected and Hectares Under Water

🌊 The El Niño phenomenon has dealt a severe blow to Ecuador’s western coast, with the province of Esmeraldas bearing the brunt of the impact. In the canton of Muisne, flooding and overflowing rivers destroyed homes and left 3,200 people affected.

🌧️ National authorities have recorded at least 35 critical incidents concentrated in the province of Esmeraldas, including landslides and river flooding, while the nationwide total has already surpassed nearly 80 emergencies across multiple provinces in Ecuador.

🚨 In response to the collapse of infrastructure and the loss of household goods, rescue teams from the Secretariat for Risk Management, the Fire Department, and the National Police are carrying out evacuation and humanitarian assistance efforts to protect the population.
