Initial experience of switching from Android to iOS:
After switching to iOS, you will be blessed with 3 tortures which will have direct and heavy impact on your everyday task and experience. These are - keyboard, back gesture absence and notifications spam.
The iOS keyboard is so trash -
• NO number row on top of keyboard
• NO clipboard history
• NO option to adjust the keyboard height
• To input the dot or comma (.), you need to switch number keyboard
Back gesture absence -
• There are technically 2 back options, one to go back in the same app and another “tiny” back button to go back into the previous app.
• When none of the back options are available, you need to then swipe from the bottom or left to go back.
Notifications spam:
Android allows to stop notifs about specific categories and receive only from useful ones.
For eg, in e-commerce apps, you can stop notifs about deals, recommendations, price drop etc while keeping receiving notifs about order updates.
On iOS, you will receive every notifs that the app companies wants to feed you.
There is NO option to open app info, so you need to go back into settings > apps > select the app. Or you can then design a shortcut, pin to to Control Center or Assistive Touch to open it directly
You also cannot clear cache and storage of an app and the only thing you can do is to download & reinstall the entire app
Gboard on iOS design is from the Android 7 era, so don’t even bother and our beloved Telegram app still remains ass, even on iOS.
I was genuinely thinking why I even switched to iOS from Android because the navigation and typing badly affect the experience with a notification spam cherry on top and I feel these 3 issues are the main reasons why some of my friends and relatives went back to Android after using iPhones
I haven’t really tried sideloading experience yet and Siri is just better than whatever bs is Google doing with Gemini on Android.
Apart from these, I haven’t really found anything else annoying on iOS. The privacy of stopping apps from “tracking us” is really useful and using iOS (as expected) is simply a smooth experience.
If Apple fixes these 3 main issues on iOS in the future, then there will be even fewer reasons to use Android devices.
