Indonesian investment platform Stockbit sent out messages to their users informing that the app would require Android 16 and newer to continue receiving updates.

Except… they completely misunderstood the corresponding Google Play policy requiring all apps published on Play Store after August 31, 2026 to target Android 16 (API 36) with no further extension allowed after November 1, 2026.

The corresponding knowledge base article has been withdrawn since — and additional email was sent to users clarifying the misunderstanding, but it became a subject of ridicule by netizens who think it'd be pretty harsh to people using phones running older version of Android.

As of this writing, Stockbit app requires Android 8 and newer.
