Eminem is coming to Fortnite’s The Big Bang event

The leaks were true: Eminem is coming to Fortnite as part of the game’s Chapter 4 finale. Epic Games has confirmed Eminem will appear during the live finale, while players will get to purchase a few different skins modeled after the rapper.

Fortnite’s finale event, called The Big Bang, kicks off on December 2nd at 2PM ET. In an updated page on Fortnite’s website, developers say you can “watch Eminem... as Eminem” during the event, which marks the end of the Fortnite OG chapter that brought the game back to its roots. Fortnite is calling this event a “new beginning” for the game, potentially hinting at a new island.

US chip export ban is hurting China’s AI startups, not so much the giants yet

Well before Washington banned Nvidia’s exports of high-performance graphic processing units to China, the country’s tech giants had been hoarding them in anticipation of an escalating tech war between the two nations.

Baidu, one of the tech firms building China’s counterparts to OpenAI, has secured enough AI chips to keep training its ChatGPT equivalent Ernie Bot for the “next year or two,” the firm’s CEO Robin Li said on an earnings call this week.

Adobe’s $20 billion bid for Figma in peril after EU warning

Adobe has been issued with a formal antitrust complaint by EU regulators regarding its $20 billion bid for cloud-based product design platform Figma.

Following an in-depth investigation that was launched on August 7th,

the European Commission reached the preliminary conclusion on Friday that if the deal goes ahead, it may “significantly reduce competition in the global markets” for the supply of interactive product design tools, vector editing tools, and raster editing tools.

#YouTube says it’s not slowing down Firefox — just ad blockers

Users on Reddit and Hacker News are complaining that YouTube seems to have inserted an intentional five-second delay before video pages will load in Mozilla’s Firefox and occasionally some other browsers. YouTube tells The Verge that these users are right about the delay, but the browser has nothing to do with it — it’s part of the company’s efforts to quash ad blockers across all platforms.
