The gear you need most is often the gear that’s easiest to lose.

This is one of the simplest upgrades I’ve made across my medical kits: shock cord retention.

My main med pack, plate carrier, and vehicle IFAK all take abuse. They get tossed around, bounced through rough terrain, loaded in and out of vehicles, and used in less-than-ideal conditions.

A few inches of shock cord helps keep critical equipment exactly where I expect it to be without sacrificing access when seconds matter.

Simple.
Cheap.
Effective.

Small upgrade. Big difference.

What piece of gear have you added retention to that you’ll never go without again?
