In this reel, WinnerDefense.com combines rare behind-the-scenes footage of Tom Cruise undergoing the intensive tactical firearms training that prepared him for Collateral with some of the film’s most iconic scenes.

Armed with a Heckler & Koch USP .45, Cruise trained extensively in weapons handling, movement, and close-quarters engagements. The result was a level of realism that remains a benchmark for tactical filmmaking more than 20 years later.

Michael Mann’s commitment to authenticity was unmatched. For Collateral, he employed elite SAS trainers—the same professionals who helped prepare the cast of Heat. Their influence can be seen in every movement, every reload, and every engagement throughout the film.

Collateral remains one of the most authentic crime thrillers ever made. What’s your favorite scene?

Produced by WinnerDefense.com, this reel features rare behind-the-scenes footage of Robert De Niro undergoing tactical firearms training with former SAS special operators in preparation for Michael Mann's Heat (1995).
The reel blends that training footage with scenes from the legendary bank shootout, where De Niro's character carried a Colt Model 733 Commando-a rifle that has since achieved cult status among firearms enthusiasts.
More than 30 years later, Heat remains the gold standard for realistic action cinema and one of the greatest shootouts ever put on film.
What's your pick for the greatest movie shootout of all time?
