Images of carrying cases made by the IDF for transporting Torahs. The Torah is the most holy object in Judaism. It is normally kept in an “ark”.

It contains the words of the Old Testament and is written by a scribe. If any mistakes are made during its inscription, it can invalidate the entire Torah.

It is particularly unusual to see somebody reading it with a knife. Because of it sacredness, it cannot be touched with the human hand and is usually read with an object called a “yod”, often made of solid silver in the shape of a hand with a pointing finger.
