🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇧⚡️ — Scotland’s SNP-led government is preparing to abandon its long-standing opposition to new oil and gas exploration in the North Sea, according to POLITICO.

The government plans to revise its energy strategy, removing the presumption against new oil and gas developments introduced in a 2023 draft.

New projects will still be assessed against Scotland’s climate targets, but the government will no longer oppose exploration by default.
