🇺🇸⚡️ — Secretary of War Pete Hegseth’s proposal to livestream the firing-squad execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan sparked widespread opposition within the Trump administration and caught even his closest Pentagon advisers by surprise, according to The Atlantic.

Administration officials described the reaction to Hegseth’s proposal as one of “pretty universal revulsion.”

Republican lawmakers and senior advisers privately warned President Trump that broadcasting the execution would be barbaric, could provide propaganda for ISIS and might damage Republicans politically ahead of the November midterm elections.

Trump “soured on it pretty quickly” following the backlash, leading Hegseth to abandon the livestream plan.
