🇺🇸🇺🇦🇷🇺⚡️ — The U.S. proposed that European countries release part of Russia's frozen sovereign assets and transfer them into a U.S.-controlled fund as part of efforts to revive peace negotiations over Ukraine, according to FT.

The proposal, presented by U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, was rejected by European officials, who opposed surrendering control of the funds or allowing any assets to be returned to Moscow.

Approximately €260 billion in Russian state assets have been frozen by Western countries since Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
