๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ฆ๐ท๐บโก๏ธ โ U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner told Ukrainian officials during talks in Miami that Washington's decision to allow Russian diesel exports is intended to encourage Moscow to return to peace negotiations, according to Reuters.
The envoys acknowledged that Russian President Vladimir Putin remains unwilling to negotiate an end to the war, but argued that the diesel agreement could soften Moscow's position by signaling Trump's willingness to reach economic arrangements with Russia.
The discussions also covered potential security guarantees for Ukraine and broader efforts to restart trilateral negotiations.
A source close to the Kremlin said Putin would only return to negotiations after Russia secured the remaining 11% of Donbas under Ukrainian control, allowing him to present the outcome as a victory domestically.
