🇨🇳❌🇧🇿🇵🇾🇹🇼 — China has imposed sanctions on Belize's Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca and Paraguay's Communications Minister Gustavo Villate over their countries' continued diplomatic relations with Taiwan.

Beijing accused the officials of pursuing "anti-China" policies that undermine Chinese sovereignty and security.

The measures prohibit them from entering mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau, while barring Chinese organizations and individuals from conducting transactions or cooperating with them.

The sanctions are largely symbolic, as senior officials from Taiwan's diplomatic allies rarely travel to China.
