🇻🇪🇺🇸⚡️ — Cilia Flores, the 69-year-old wife of former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, is expected to appear in a New York court Thursday as her lawyers seek her release from prison into house arrest because of serious health concerns, AP reports.

Her attorneys say she has lost approximately 11 kilograms (25 pounds) while detained at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center and suffers from dizziness, shortness of breath and other symptoms linked to possible heart problems.

They also said she may have suffered a minor heart attack in July and could require heart surgery. Her lawyers also allege she sustained permanent scarring during the U.S. military operation that led to her capture.

They argue that her medical needs cannot be adequately addressed in prison and have proposed transferring her to a New York residence under 24-hour security supervision.
