๐ช๐น๐ช๐ฌ๐ช๐ทโก๏ธ โ The Ethiopian ministry of foreign affairs released a statement reaffirming Ethiopia's right to control and use the Blue Nile River and the Red Sea, using historical and geographical claims, as a response to both Egypt and Eritrea.
Regarding Egypt, the main point of contestation is the GERD, a massive dam located at the source of the Blue Nile River inside Ethiopia, which is threatening the Nile flow of water toward Egypt, which is crucial for the country's economy and agriculture.
As for Eritrea, the conflict revolves around Ethiopia's lack of access to the Red Sea ever since Eritrea gained its independence following the end of the Ethiopian civil war in 1991.
