McGurk said U.S. officials were concerned after the 2024 election that Iran might attempt to rapidly develop a nuclear weapon and had agreed that the U.S. would strike Fordow if such a move were detected.
He said Washington saw no evidence Iran had taken that step and warned Tehran not to attempt it, while Netanyahu was nevertheless “clearly contemplating” military action.
