🇪🇺🇨🇦⚡️ — The EU and Canada are preparing to announce a broad new strategic partnership at an October 29 summit in Montreal, according to a draft statement obtained by POLITICO.

The agreement is expected to deepen cooperation on digital trade, Ukraine, critical minerals, supply chains and energy, including LNG, nuclear and renewables.

Both sides also plan to coordinate stockpiles of critical resources to reduce vulnerability to geopolitical disruptions and market volatility.

Canada and the EU will additionally announce the joint purchase of 50 De Havilland water bombers for wildfire response, with the aircraft expected to be available in Europe and Canada from 2030.
