🇷🇺⚡️ — Russia plans to increase defense spending to 17.1 trillion rubles ($202.6 billion) in 2027, around 27% above the original budget and the highest level since the invasion of Ukraine began in 2022, according to government documents reviewed by Reuters.

Total defense spending is projected to reach 50 trillion rubles ($590 billion) over the next three years.

The documents also show Russia’s 2026 budget deficit forecast doubling from 1.6% to 3.2% of GDP, while falling oil and gas revenues are pushing Moscow toward higher taxes and borrowing.

Government borrowing is expected to rise to 5 trillion rubles in 2026 and 7.7 trillion in 2027, while state debt is projected to reach 21.7% of GDP next year.
