The commander of Hamas' Gaza City Brigade, Izz al-Din al-Bik, was killed in a recent Israeli targeted assassination strike on an apartment building.

He succeeded Izz al-Din al-Haddad who was killed by an Israeli airstrike on May 15 2026, and marks the fourth Hamas Brigade commander to be killed in the last three weeks. In the last three weeks, 3 other commanders of the 5 different Hamas brigades were killed (Khan Younis, Rafah, and Northern brigades).
