🇬🇧⚡️ — Gloucestershire Police say five men have been arrested near RAF Fairford on suspicion of offenses under the Explosives Act after three suspicious vehicles were reported travelling toward the airbase at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Sunday.

Armed officers detained the suspects in the Welford area, where they remain in custody. They are working closely with Counter Terrorism Police.

They have now been further arrested on suspicion of preparation of a terrorist act, contrary to section 5 of the Terrorism Act.

A 400-meter cordon has been established around the vehicles while the Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit examines them.

Approximately 85 households have been advised to evacuate as a precaution while the investigation continues.
