🇺🇸⚡️ — Boeing has identified a software glitch affecting the 737 MAX that could disable certain automated navigation functions during landing, potentially forcing pilots to take manual control after a missed approach, according to WSJ.

The company notified airlines in August and maintains that the issue does not pose a safety risk. However, Southwest and United have refused to accept new aircraft equipped with the affected software, while the FAA has launched an investigation.

Boeing is developing temporary procedures to restore the affected functions and a permanent software fix, currently expected in early 2028, although it is working to accelerate that timeline.

It remains unclear how many aircraft have the faulty software. Boeing said it first learned of the problem in November 2024 but only initiated a formal safety review this month.
