The soldiers were captured in Russia’s Kursk region while fighting alongside Russian forces.

Lee called the disclosure “deeply regrettable,” saying it violated a confidentiality agreement and could create diplomatic and national security problems.

He said such sensitive matters should be handled according to national interests rather than political considerations.
