ChatGPT for macOS patched after trivial flaw exposed chats and browser access

OpenAI patched a macOS ChatGPT vulnerability that could let malicious code on a user’s Mac access chat history and potentially reach other data the app could use, including browser sessions. The flaw, tracked as CVE-2026-100754, was reported by Patrick Wardle and other Objective-See Foundation researchers; OpenAI publicly acknowledged the fix on September 25. There is no confirmation that attackers exploited it.
