VMware bets on memory tiering to delay costly server upgrades

VMware is expanding memory tiering in Cloud Foundation as DRAM and server prices remain high, aiming to help customers run more workloads on existing hardware. The technology shifts inactive memory pages from expensive DRAM to fast NVMe storage, and VMware plans to extend support to Microsoft Radius and very large virtual machines in a future VCF 9.2 release.
