Sony and Warner sue Anthropic over Claude training data and tens of thousands of songs

Sony Music Publishing and Warner Chappell Music have sued Anthropic, alleging that Claude was trained using tens of thousands of copyrighted songs and lyrics obtained through unauthorized copying. The complaint also names CEO Dario Amodei and co-founder Benjamin Mann, and could expose Anthropic to billions of dollars in statutory damages.
