Z.AI confirms Ox Alpha after stealth launch overtakes DeepSeek

China’s Z.AI has confirmed that its anonymously launched Ox Alpha model is a new GLM-series system after it rapidly became OpenRouter’s most-used model. The free reasoning model reportedly more than doubled DeepSeek’s usage, and Z.AI plans to publish its weights, enabling developers to run and adapt the model in their own AI applications.
