Windows Hello ESS now brings secure fingerprint sign-in to desktop PCs

Windows 11 is expanding Windows Hello Enhanced Sign-in Security (ESS) beyond laptops and other PCs with built-in biometric hardware. The KB5101684 update adds support for compatible external fingerprint readers, giving desktop users a more isolated authentication path without changing the familiar sign-in experience.
