Swapzone Glossary: Private Swap
What exactly is a private crypto swap?
A private swap is a crypto exchange designed to make the connection between the sending and receiving addresses less direct on the public blockchain.
Instead of moving directly from one address to another, the swap can use an additional step or route, for example, through another blockchain or asset.
Why does it matter?
1. It can reduce the direct on-chain link between the sending and receiving addresses.
2. It adds a layer of privacy compared with a regular swap.
3. The level of privacy depends on the route and assets involved.
4. A private swap doesn’t make a transaction completely invisible or bypass KYC/AML requirements.
One important distinction: a private swap is not the same as a crypto mixer.
In simple terms, a private swap is about making the path between where crypto comes from and where it ends up less direct on-chain.
