BitMEX, one of the platforms that left a major mark on crypto trading, is preparing to close after almost 12 years in the industry.

For many traders, BitMEX was more than just an exchange. It was one of the places where a new era of crypto derivatives began, introducing perpetual futures and influencing how people trade digital assets today.

Bybit CEO Ben Zhou called the closure “the end of an era,” highlighting the role BitMEX played in shaping the crypto market and inspiring the platforms that followed.

Crypto has always been a story of change: old chapters close, new ones begin.
