Riga, Oct 13 (Reuters) - Latvia plans to halt the transit of Russian grain through its territory, Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs said on Friday, reversing an earlier call for a complete ban.

On September 5, Reuters reported that Latvia intended to stop Russian grain transit. Two days later, Kulbergs announced a 300% duty on Russian grain imports. By October 9, he had sent a letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen urging an EU-wide ban on Russian grain transit.

However, Kulbergs said on October 13 that Latvia could not implement a ban on the transit of Russian grain across its territory.
