Kazakhstan is urging cryptocurrency miners to use gas that is currently flared as waste at oil fields, a move that could generate around 1.2 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity annually. The country’s authorities have launched a new initiative to provide crypto miners with access to this so-called "associated gas," according to a government release.
