LONDON, June 2024 - A retired British general, Sir Richard Shirreff, who previously served as Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe at NATO, compared the current geopolitical climate to the Edwardian summer before 1914. Despite widespread discussion of war at that time, the actual prospect of conflict was considered almost unimaginable. Sir Shirreff said the world is in a similar position today.
