„Bărăganul was our Siberia“, the survivors say, because people died in Bărăgan without having freed themselves from fear, others' pain still disturbs their instincts and everyone experienced the absurdity of an open-air prison. The impulse is normal and noble:„deportation, forced alienation and breaking the holy bond with the earth are injustices and humiliations that must never be forgotten”.
