48.6% of Muslims aged 16–64 in England and Wales were not employed, compared with 29.1% of the overall working-age population, based on the 2021 census
Muslims recorded the lowest employment rate of any religious group, at just 51.4%, compared with 73% among Christians and 74% among people with no religion.
The figures also show that 41.9% of working-age Muslims were economically inactive, meaning they were neither employed nor actively seeking work, while 6.7% were unemployed and seeking employment.
