Alongside hearing from Sundial CEO Sheldon Hunt on the panel ‘Institutional Capital Meets Blockchain Innovation: Investment Strategies for the Web3 Era’, it was also great to see the real momentum building around Bitcoin utility.

🎙This week on Sundial Insights: What is an Optimistic Rollup?

Think of it as a fast lane for blockchains, such as Bitcoin.

1. Transactions happen off the main chain in Sundial’s faster Layer-2 environment.
2. The transactions are then bundled together, and a unique signature (hash) is created.
3. That signature of the bundle is then securely posted back to the base chain for final settlement.

It’s called optimistic because all transactions are assumed to be valid, unless someone proves otherwise. For Sundial, that means only one honest participant is needed for our L2 to remain secure.

Unlike most blockchains that rely on +50% of miners or validators to be honest, Sundial’s design requires just one to uphold integrity.

This enables:
✅ Scaled transactions
✅ Lower costs
✅ Exceptional security

Over two days, we met with an incredible range of people across the industry all eager to learn more about Sundial’s mission to make Bitcoin programmable and unlock secure, yield-generating infrastructure.

Our booth became a hub for discussions around Bitcoin DeFi, interoperability, and the future of Layer-2 innovation. Many were excited by how Sundial extends Bitcoin’s functionality by enabling staking and bridging without introducing a new token.
