🛡 Scambaiting Gets an AI Upgrade: One Techie's Epic Revenge
A Delhi IT pro just pulled off the ultimate "talk to the hand" move on a scammer. Instead of falling for a classic "army transfer" furniture scam, he used ChatGPT to build a fake payment portal that secretly snagged the scammer's GPS location, IP address, and a selfie.
How the techie flipped the script:
• Fed ChatGPT prompts to "vibe code" a tracking webpage.
• Tricked the scammer into clicking a link to "upload a QR code" and allow camera + location access.
• Got the scammer’s live GPS coordinates, IP address, and, “most satisfyingly, a clear, front-camera snapshot of him sitting.”
• Sent the scammer his own data.
Instant karma. 😂 Panicked calls and pleas for mercy. “Needless to say, he would very well be scamming someone the very next hour but boy the satisfaction of stealing from a thief is crazy,” wrote the AI whiz.

And it's not just one guy.
📇 Scambaiting is blowing up, going from prank calls to full-blown AI warfare. Devs are now building bots that auto-waste scammers' time with fake convos, and YouTube channels live-stream these takedowns to millions. It's basically a new spectator sport.
While satisfying, experts warn these "hack-backs" live in a legal grey zone. Messing with criminals, even for justice, can backfire if they decide to retaliate.
The takeaway: AI is a double-edged sword in the scam wars. Stay sharp, stay safe, and maybe just enjoy the show from the sidelines.
