📑 Competition Description
HCGEC is an international essay competition for high school students (ages 13–18), organized by the student newspaper The Harvard Crimson.
↪️ The competition provides participants with the opportunity to showcase their writing skills, work with professional editors, and gain recognition on a global level.
📑 Language and English Level
✔️ All essays must be written in English.
✔️ Participants should have at least an IELTS level of 6.0 or higher.
✔️ There is a separate category for participants studying English as a second language — English as a Second Language Award.
📑 Essay Categories
🔢 Creative Writing: Short stories, essays with artistic elements.
🔢 Argumentative Essay: Analysis and arguments on relevant topics.
🔡 Journalistic Writing: Reports, features, or analytical articles.
Maximum word count — 500 words.
