France is reportedly proposing to use the Missile de Croisière Naval (MdCN) - loosely translated as naval cruise missile - as the basis for the development of the new French-German stand-off weapon.

The MdCN would therefore only need to be upgraded to be able to launch from a land vehicle and navigate over land. Experts consider this to be a relatively simple task that requires a manageable amount of time.
